What We Do

WE CHAMPION the importance of adequately-financed parks as a key factor in our quality of life.

WE ADVOCATE, often with partners, for open green space dedicated to recreation and passive enjoyment, focusing first on the needs of residents over visitors.

WE URGE the City administration and elected officials to implement national best practices to improve neighborhood and regional parks, recreation facilities, and programs, such as city-wide parks master planning and assessment, guided by the needs and aspirations of our citizens.

 Parks For All seeks to represent a broad constituency of our community with shared goals to improve our parks through

  • Advocacy

    Advocating for robust and equitable PUBLIC funding for ALL parks.

    Opposing the commercialization of public green spaces and ensuring no loss of public green space.

    Urging elected officials and park managers to implement national best practices for park facilities improvement and recreation program management.

    Monitoring proposed changes to the City Zoning Ordinance.

  • Partnerships

    Collaborating with local organizations which align with Parks For All’s effort to foster broad civic engagement in shaping public policies related to open space and recreation.

    Engaging citizens who can help us be good civic “watchdogs” and give us information that we can act upon if there is a threat - such as encroachment or neglect - to a city-owned green space.

  • Communication

    Continuous communication with civic leaders and park managers to ensure that a city-wide Parks and Recreation Master Plan is thoughtfully developed for the City of New Orleans.

    Calls to Action for people and organizations signed up on our website to let them know when our civic leaders need to hear from us about issues concerning green space.
